District 1S1B

I am a part of the One District, One Book Lethbridge committee, and we need your help. In March of 2019, we are giving every student in our district their own book (to keep!), and we will be reading the novel at the same time. We will have students in Grade 1, all the way up to Grade 12, engaged in a shared reading experience. What a wonderful way to share in the love of reading. This is the first time that a One District, One Book project has happened in Canada! If you, or someone you know, is able to donate to our project, please visit our website. All of our sponsors will be acknowledged in our schools. $10 buys a book for a child in our district! P.S., the title of our book is a secret for now, but I can tell you, it is exactly what our world needs to read right now.

District One School One Book

In the Spring of 2019, Lethbridge School District #51 will be presenting our “never been done in Canada before” project called One District, One Book.  Every student and staff member from Kindergarten to Grade 12 will read the same book at the same time.

Our unique project will bring together students, staff, families, and dignitaries in a shared journey with literacy! This involvement represents 40,000 members of the community of Lethbridge.  Not only will our community read together, we will share the gift of literacy through individual school activities, cross-school and cross-grade activities as well as District-wide activities. The overwhelming success of One School, One Book and Three Schools, One Book projects untaken in various schools in Lethbridge precedes and informs this exciting project!

OUR VISION: Strengthen literacy, family and community bonds.

It is necessary for us to purchase 13,100 copies of the book for this project to be successful.  This requires significant funding.  We have already received unprecedented support from the publisher Chronicle Books, and the University of Lethbridge Bookstore. We are now asking you to support literacy by enveloping our community with the love of reading and the many benefits of this experience.

Acknowledgement of your contribution will appear on our One District, One Book website and other social media, as well as on signs in all participating schools. Lethbridge School District No. 51 will  provide a tax receipt for donors.

Literacy Legacy donors will have the additional benefit of receiving recognition in the bookplate in the front of each of the estimated 13,100 books.

Please join us by showing your support for literacy, reading and community by donating to our One District, One Book in Lethbridge.  For more information, please visit https://1d1blethbridge.wixsite.com/1d1b.

We look forward to meeting with you personally to discuss this project.
